Army-Navy
Underdog Navy upsets Army, 19-14, in their traditional inter-Service battle in Philadelphia's Kennedy Stadium. Brilliant passing by Navy quarterback John Cartwright plus tight defense gains the win. Army's sophomore quarterback Jim O'Toole leads a Cadet fourth-quarter drive for two T.D.'s but it's too little, too late. A black screen reads, "Football - Navy 19 - Army 14." Miniature football figurines, buttons and ribbons are sold outside John F. Kennedy Stadium. Soldiers wearing white caps march. Soldiers make square formations in the field prior to the start of the game. Soldiers run up the bleachers to their seats. Others march in formation around the outside track. Interception and touchdown plays. The scoreboard shows the scores. Fans cheer and wave their caps.
Browns - Giants
The Cleveland Browns top the New York Giants, 24-14, to draw one step closer to the Century Division Championship in the NFL. An intercepted Giant pass for a 79 yard T.D. is the game's turning point. A black screen reads, "Football - Browns 24 - Giants 14." Plays show the opening kickoff, field goal, run and an interception plays.A sign advertises the Pontiac GTO. The score board shows the progression in scoring. Fans raid the field and pull a goal post to the ground.
Queen Mary
The luxury liner Queen Mary is welcomed to her final home, Long Beach, California, after her final voyage, a 40 day trip from Southampton around Cape Horn. She'll be a permanent museum and convention facility. The cruise ship, The Queen Mary, motors up the Pacific Coastline on its way to Long Beach California. Countless sailboats, military frigates and yachts escort the ocean liner. All footage is aerial.
Beban - Heisman
Gary Beban, UCLA's quarterback's for the past three years, is this year's Heisman Trophy winner. Collegiate football's most coveted award goes to the athlete who helped rack up a 3 year record of 23 wins and only 5 loses. His future in pro football may be with Minnesota. The camera tilts up from the Heisman Trophy to show winner Gary Beban being interviewed by a sports reporter. Highlights from some of his games. Finland
Finland observes 50 years of independence from Russia in a national celebration which includes a memorial to her war dead, and a gigantic formal reception for diplomats. Soldiers dressed in their winter uniforms stand in a line during a snowstorm. Finland's President lays a wreath at a tomb dedicated to the soldiers who died fighting against Russia. Soldiers raise their guns in solute. The President enters The Great Ice Hall. Russia President sits watching a gymnastics performance. Performers bend at the waist and twirl ribbons in unison.
Fashions
Spring fashions from Tunisia have that "Scheherazade" look and feature ottoman dresses and floor-length gowns; sheer capes over bare backs; even a wedding dress made like a Tunisian burnoose. Models that could not make it in New York, parade around in smashing designs from the fashion mecca of Tanisia. The first beauty just screams Little Red Ridding Hood in her hooded overcoat with simply waves of white accent set against a dark tweed. The second beauty enters wearing a brilliant white ottoman dressed adorned with pearls. Twirling her little self around, she raises her dress showing a little leg. Then some girl who doesn't even look like she is from Tunisia appears, and throws off the whole mood of the show, but her dress sure is one snazzy number. Another after dark creation, with echoes of Mediterranean nights, is shown by the lovely, I have wonderful eyebrows girl. The next number is a Golama Hoops Dress with a provocative cape modeled by Zombie Woman. And no fashion show would ever be complete without a wedding dress, but this model doesn't looks like she should be wearing white on her wedding day - uh-la-la.
Tornado
In ninety seconds, a waterfront (unable to make out) in Sydney, Australia, is devastated by a "mini - tornado" which does one million dollars in damages. Only 16 people hurt, none seriously, but the storm is the worst in the city's history. Aftermath of tornado and clean-up. Rooftops are torn apart from the winds of a tornado. Various shots of wreckage scattered about. Pills of twisted metal, glass and wood. A tree is stripped bare of leaves, and has debris within its' branches. Residents attempt to clean up.
Quintuplet Weds
A Buenos Aires wedding reveals the fact that the groom, Franco Dilligenti, is one of the quintuplets born 23 years ago but kept hidden from the public. His wealthy father was determined to raise the quints without publicity. A father walks his daughter to the altar during a wedding. A crucifix is adorned with flowers. The bride and groom join hands, exchange rings and walk down the isle.
Hat Invention
Hat Invention Woman secretary (wearing bathing suit) seated in office, taking dictation from boss. Boss seems to be drinking ice water out of a tube? Inventor with straw hat. Fan in motion, inside straw hat. CU "skimmer" invention, to drop the temperature a few degrees on your head.
Rotorcraft
The Army's Cheyenne, world's most advanced combat rotorcraft, flies horizontally or vertically, and can hit a silver dollar at a mile and a half. It'll escort troop-carrying helicopters. Various close-up shots of an Army helicopter lifting off from a helipad. The back bades begin to turn. Then, more close-up footage while at 1000 feet. The two crew members can be seen.
Operation Pershing
U.S. troops search villages in the Bong Son Plain area for Viet Cong and sympathizers who may remain following a two-day battle. The Communist stronghold threatens all allied supply routes. American troops exit a military transport helicopter in the jungle. Troops begin searching a village. A soldier places a listening device against a wall. A soldier searches a debris pile for hidden villagers. An elderly Vietnams man comes out from a hidden bunker. Villagers are gathered together for processing, and then march out of the camp with the soldiers. Many of the women carry small infants. VERY GOOD FOOTAGE.
Small Business
A "Start Your Own Business" show in New York attracts the would-be self-employed to an exposition of over 100 exhibits. Exhibits encourage visitors to "Be Your Own Boss!" "Start Your Own Business" marquee outside expo. Miss Small Business 1967 poses at exhibit. Franchise exhibits include Donut shops, car washes and spray-on shoe polish. Voiceover advocates the American Ideal of Self-Employment. CU Miss Small Business 1963. Check out the 25 cent car wash. Model standing by some large spinning brushes. VC Mortars And Truce
In Saigon, Vietcong terrorists lob mortar shells at General Westmoreland's headquarters, missing and killing eight soldiers in an Army convoy. At the same time, VC guerrillas join government troops in the Mekong Delta for a Lunar Truce dinner invitation. A bombed out building. A man carried out by the Vietcong. Rescue workers picking through the rubble with a watchful eye looking for survivors. CU explosive shells that missed Brigadier General William Westmoreland US Army motorcade. Soldier walking on a make shift plank that is over the mud on the Mekong Delta River. Low Angle Shot South Vietnamese soldier holding an assault riffle standing at his post. Two Vietnamese Gorilla come ashore invited and greeted by South Vietnamese troops. The guerrilla checks his riffle in with the South Vietnamese soldier as a sign of peace. CU the Vietnamese guerrillas are given cigarettes as a sign of friendship, little children and members of the village stand around watching. CU the guerrillas are given food, beer, fish, spiced pork and cucumbers. The enemies share the same table but only briefly.
91st. Westminister Kennel Club
The 91st Annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show attracts some 25 hundred champion canines to Madison Square Garden, New York. At the end of the two-day event, "Bardene Bingo", a black Scottish terrier is judged "Best of Show". Breeders and handlers are at their posted stations with their beloved dogs. Los Angeles Times Indoor Games
The Los Angeles Times Indoor Games attracts entries from throughout the world. In the pole vault, UCLA's Dick Railsback finishes second but is injured. Champion Bob Seagren clears seventeen feet, three inches, a world record height, but it's voided when his pole goes under the bar. Indoor track, an athlete in the center ring throws a shot put. Sport fans sit in the bleachers above watching the competitions. Dick Railsback runs with his pole aiming to master the high jump. He attempts to clear 17 feet on his jump but injures his back finishing second. Bob Seagren runs and clears a jump of 17 feet 3 inches. But his jump is nullified because his pole bent during the jump going under the bar. Seagren stands off to the side looking angry waving his arms.
Ski Jump Record
A 22-year old car salesman from Oslo, Norway sets a new world ski jump record at Oberstdorf, Germany. Daredevil Lars Grini leaps 492 feet and 2 inches beating the old record by more than thirteen feet. Ski jumpers come tearing down the ski jump and complete text book jumps. Daredevil Lars Grini comes down the jump and completes a 492 ft. jump, beating the old record. Lars Grini lands knowing he made a good jump holding his arm up in victory. CU Lars standing among the crowd, tired and exhausted and happy the jump is over.
Ice Skating Champs
At Montreal, the North American Figure Skating Championships produces winning form. Donald Knight of Dundas, Ontario, wins the men's crown while 19-year old World Champion, Peggy Fleming of Colorado Springs, Colorado, tops the Women's Division. UCLA - Wraps up the tournament championship with a season record of 30 wins and no losses." Brieg tacking shot of audience in stands. Ski Party!
Disciples of the ski cult find an excuse to celebrate the rites of spring. In wacky costumes to fit the mood and 65 degree weather they trip the snow fantastic with somersaulting and general clowning. Dancing skiers Frug on skis to the beat of a rock 'n roll band.
