01:00.29 People coming off a bus, getting shopping bags. Interview with a man, he says he's shop for Christmas. Nice W.S. of above. Interview with a woman who says X-Mas shopping as a quick explanation for her bus trip. I like to shop is an older woman's explanation as to why she's on tour. As the bus leaves the older woman continues to explain who she buys for. I like to go shopping all the time. The malls are nice... I can get lost here, she says. This is the first shopping mall she'd ever seen. Follow the older woman into the mall
01:05:30 Interview with a woman who works in the jewelry mall. When asked why she liked to work in malls she responded, "It is interesting, exciting, and fun to be of service to other people".
01:06:26 Back outside there are more people (women) getting off the bus. A woman from Holland, MI about mall shopping. She says "It's fun getting away from home and traveling with other women". Follow her into the mall.

01:19:08 Back to the cheerleaders they take turns explaining, "Once you start working here, you don't want to hang out anymore...we used to spend our parents money, now it's our own". "We loved shopping here. Our parents would drop us off by the movie theater". "That's where we buy shoes". "We are mall rats". "You used to be mall rats". "There are lots of nice restaurants - we used to come here to hang out, now it's for a purpose". "It's a luxury to have all these stores in one place". "People take it for granted ...why the mall is better than city shopping. We're here so we may as well spend it now". What parents thought of their mall shopping.

"They think it's to be in style,buy it and they yell at you". Interviewer asks, "What's in style?" "...Models.. where do you find out what's in style......someone who likes to take risks".

Alternations in a hurry - Retail store turned into service store, business is great, about to franchise all over. Someone interviewed says, "I'm not working 'cause I'm Xmas shopping. I picked Woodfield 'cause it's service oriented and it's the biggest". How Woodfield got picked. Sites and statistics.

02:20:38 Manager of Woodfield Mall. States all of his different responsibilities. His favorite -likes excitement - he says, "All our efforts come to fruit". He says, "This is like a city.....". Lists security - prevention, helping customers. He is responsible for leasing and research surveys of what the customers want.....something unique, a different shopping dimension. What stores aren't brought here.....16 million shoppers (stating that very few stores would not fit here). Some shopping trends - quality, value and sophistication. He has been at Woodfield Mall for 3 years. "Malls have changed because society has changed. People don't have time, they want quality,service and selection". He goes on to say, "The key to Woodfield Malls success is that we are aware of the needs of shoppers". Interviewer asks if he will have more promotional activity? He replies, "Not during Xmas". Interviewer asks what different types of promotional activity they have. Manager responds, "Hong - Kong made promotional show".
