Female office employees (middle aged, white) in shared office space. Multiple desks in one space. Filing or filling out paper work (secretary work, clerical work, office assistants), operating large calculator with paper tape printout (accounting). Older female office employee sitting by file cabinet, searching through files. Older white male wearing business suit, tie, glasses (office supervisor, office manager, boss) enters work space, gets drink from water cooler. Narrator refers to the issues an office supervisor might face on the job, “especially in an office that hires a lot of girls.”

White male office supervisor (manager) walks over to meet female office employee; she hands him papers, he briefly examines them, pulls a pen from front pocket of business suit to sign paper. Female office employee working at her desk, going through stack of papers (files, paperwork). She hands male office supervisor (boss) papers to examine. Female office employee places pen back in ink-well/pen-holder on desk, answers phone.

White male office supervisor (manager, boss) seated at desk, talking to new hire seated across from him. New employee is a young white woman. Office manager says it’s great to have her with the office pool (heavily scripted conversation, typical educational film style). Office supervisor and new employee discuss her college education and her previous work experience (could pass for a job interview/job offer). Knock on door, older female employee enters supervisor’s office (secretary, assistant). Office supervisor introduces the two women to each other (new office employee to older office employee). The two women leave the supervisor’s office, the supervisor goes back to working at his desk.

Younger female employee sitting at file cabinet searching through files, calls over older female co-worker. Younger woman says it's hard to find the file she's looking for, suggests creating new filing system to older female co-worker. Older coworker disapproves of new employee’s idea for a new filing system (older female has annoyed/angry/condescending tone in her voice), says the current filing system works just fine. The two female employees get into a mild argument (workplace/office feud, employee tension, disagreement, employee dispute).

Older female employee enters to express her grievances (growing office conflict with the younger new female employee, mainly regarding the filing system argument). Woman suggests that the young employee thinks she is better than the older employees, because she (young new female employee) is college educated with has work experience. (old vs. young, experience vs. seniority, college educated vs. non-college educated). Supervisor responds by taking some of the responsibility (blame) for the new employee’s actions (he mentioned expressing new ideas to the young female employee when he hired her). Supervisor assures her he will talk to the new girl; phones rings, he picks up and covers the receiver with his hand to block noise. Woman exits. Narrator says that the supervisor did not talk to the new employee as he said would; supervisor is busy with other work, decided to leave the employee dispute alone to work itself out.

Younger employee causally mentions that she and the other female co-workers changed the office filing system. Older female employee verbally expresses her anger to the new employee (“who do you think you are”), says she is going to the supervisor. (old ideas vs new ideas, office employees arguing, employee dispute).

Office supervisor (manager, boss) admits he never talked to young new female employee about dispute, thought the dispute would work itself out; he did not expect resistance to new ideas. Music plays, and question appears on screen: “why did Betty resist the new idea?”
