Coast Guard Films, soft focus. Scenes of unique pictorial drama - the actual ditching of a Stratocruiser with 31 aboard, 1,000 miles out from San Francisco. Films made from a coast guard cutter standing by record the big plane's plunge into the pacific, and the rescue of the passengers and crew - close-up drama at sea. Establishing shot - The crippled Stratocruiser shot from the coast guard cutter. Cutter up - You see a fire on the plane near the tail end. CUS - The coast guard cutter Pontchartrain maintains a vigil ready to swing into action when the big plane sets down. View from deck of the cutter - Off in a distance you can hardly see the plane as it is landing in the ocean but you do see a huge amount of water mounting in the sea as it sets down.
