It was largely his leadership that made berliners resist the red blockade when the city was supplied by allied airlift. Lead by police a torch light parade winds through a mourning Berlin. The body of Mayor Ernst Reuter is born to city hall to lie in state. Death came suddenly to the fearless leader of the Western Sector of the German capital.
