Indo-china: Offensive Mops Up Reds in Rice Bowl. Indochina (Vietnam) In a renewed offensive, French colonial forces round up Communists that have infiltrated the rich rice bowl of northern Indo-China. With heavy artillery and napalm bombs they blast villages in which the Reds entrenched themselves. Vietnam. Montage of big guns (artillery) firing. French soldiers (fg) watch planes drop bombs, seem to cheer the flaming explosions in the distance. A group of Vietnamese villagers, one holding a white flag, approach to surrender. The VO calls them "Viet Minh rebels" but they sure don't look threatening, as many of them are old men. Caucasian man examines the injured arm of a Vietnamese boy - very sad, somewhat gruesome. Prisoners of war (POWs) sit on the ground, as French soldiers hand out cigarettes to them. French troops wade through rice paddies. Many refugees walk by, carrying their belongings with them.
