Royal Visitor: Washington Welcomes Princess Elizabeth Princess Elizabeth and her consort Prince Philip receives a banner welcome as they arrive by air from Canada to begin a brief visit in this country. President Harry S Truman and other dignitaries meet the royal couple, who are later entertained at a gala reception at Blair House. Elizabeth and Philip disembark, shake hands with Harry, Bess and Margaret Truman. Truman and the Princess stand on podium at airport; Princess Elizabeth speaks (nat sound): "Free men everywhere look towards the United States with affection and with hope..." The dignitaries climb into car, pass by crowds lining street (government workers?). Night, Elizabeth and Philip greet people amidst a crowd, then Elizabeth takes a podium (speech not shown).
