25 Years Ago: The Crime of the Century The sensational trial of Bruno Richard Hauptmann for the 'Crime of the Century' -- the kidnapping and murder of the Lindbergh baby. Moments of high and gripping drama as the bereaved parents confront Hauptmann from the witness stand - as the state draws its web of fatal evidence inexorably tighter, and finally, the raking cross-examination of Hauptmann by Attorney General Wilentz. A story that gripped and chilled the nation. Hauptmann and other men stand around a microphone. Crowds outside courthouse; woman climbs through window (of courthouse?). Jurors. Courtroom scenes. Charles Lindbergh on stand. Evidence - ladder, baby clothes. Anne Morrow Lindbergh on stand. Dr. Condon (?). Hauptmann on the stand (some glitches here). Judge (older Caucasian man) bangs gavel. Zoom in on still of electric chair.
