60 Inch Snowfall: Europe Lashed by Winter Storm Gales with hurricane force and smothering snow storms have swept Europe from Scandinavia to Italy. In the French Alps wind whipped snow stranded tourists, disrupted food deliveries and contributed to a score of deaths. People trudge through snow, wind blowing snow. Small dog huddled by fence, covered in snow (helpless). Icicles on building. Cars lined up on plowed road. Men digging car out, cars covered by snow drift.
