Space Triumph: Schirra Makes Perfect Flight
Space Triumph: Schirra Makes Perfect Flight Commander Walter M. Schirra, Jr., completes an almost flawless flight as he orbits the earth six times and comes down in the Pacific just 9,000 yards from the target area. An overheating flight suit on the first orbit is the only trouble he has as he travels 160,000 miles in 9 hours and 14 minutes. This flight-so successful, that a 17-orbit flight is planned next.
