New York Roars Welcome To Astronauts
New York Roars Welcome To Astronauts There's been nothing like it before in gotham! From the days of Lindbergh the city has had some mammoth receptions, but nothing like the roaring tribute that New Yorkers pay to Colonel John H. Glenn, Jr. And his fellow spacemen. The first American to orbit the earth expresses himself as 'overwhelmed' by it all- and he almost was-----as police lines were broken time after time as people fought to get a closer look. Wonderful shot of ticker-tape parade. Motorcade with astronauts. American flag waving, filmed from window of building, as flag waves marching band performs during parade. Fellow Astronauts Shepard ?, Grissom, Slayton, Carpenter follow in separate motorcades. Australian Lord greets Glenn. Glenn presented with New York s Gold Medal of Honor.
