Johnson's Party: Mexican President Sees Politics in Action On the ranch of Senator Lyndon Johnson (LBJ), a typically huge Texas barbecue honoring visiting President Lopez Mateos of Mexico turns into a political shindig that sends Senator Johnson's five-gallon hat into the Presidential ring. Speaker of the House Sam Rayburn shows up as well as former president Harry Truman. People arrive by helicopter. The President of Mexico has to do a lot of handshakes, including some with people wearing oversized sombreros. Photo opportunity as Truman, Lopez Mateos (?), and LBJ pose in handshake. Press photographers. Sign: "Lyndon Johnson sera presidente." People serve themselves and eat outdoors at long tables, like a giant picnic.
