Good Neighbors: Ike Greets Mexico's President Lopez Mateos. Ike warmly greets the president of Mexico, Adolfo Lopez Mateos, and his family, arriving at Washington to return President Dwight D. Eisenhower's visit of last February. After arrival ceremonies, Senor Lopez Mateos next day visits Mount Vernon, home and shrine of George Washington, to pay tribute to the father of this country. Man and woman (Lopez Mateos and wife?) descend from plane; the man hugs Ike (!). Journalists, reporters, newsreel cameramen. Motorcade drives under flag of Mexico, past clapping crowds. Press event, photo op: the Mexican President lays wreath at Mount Vernon for photographers. Group of folks walk, then pose in front of famous Mt. Vernon house.
