Image problems sporadically throughout this clip. Red's (sic) "Lunik" Hits the Moon Library scenes recreate Russia's spectacular scientific triumph in hitting the moon, perhaps the most dramatic feat in space exploration since the first satellite, and a major propaganda feather in Khrushchev's cap on the eve of his American visit. Daytime rocket launch. Animation (?) or real pictures from rocket POV of ground getting farther away as it lifts off. Man operates equipment. Oscilloscope-type monitor with waveforms. Illustration shows distance from Earth to moon. Zoom in on still image of moon.
