Launch Polaris-firing A-sub At Groton, Connecticut, the submarine 'George Washington' is launched, the first nuclear powered sub designed to fire the Polaris missile, bringing into being a whole new strategy of warfare. Woman christens sub, makes a big splash as she does (it looks like she gets pretty wet from whatever was in the bottle). Crowd watches sub slide down into the water.
