First Free Flight Of X-15. The X-15 rocket plane that may be the first to carry a man into outer space and return goes aloft under the wing of its giant mother plane for its first free flight, gliding 7 miles to earth. Large U.S. Air Force airplane (VO says B-52) takes off, with a little plane under its wing. Newsreel cameramen and people with binoculars, etc., look upward. The little plane drops away and glides down for what looks like a bumpy landing.
