President Eisenhower Breaks Ground President Dwight D. Eisenhower breaks ground to formally commence construction of New York's Lincoln Square art center. In an area now largely lofts and slum tenements will rise a modern center for all the performing arts - dance, theatre and music. Crowd outdoors. People applaud Ike, who waves. Sketches/ drawings of the planned buildings. Groundbreaking itself: Ike shovels dirt, well-dressed upper class people clap.
