Same as catalog # 535895 25 Years Ago Today. Themes. Scenes. Schemes. They don't change much over the years. Here we see teachers in Chicago protesting pay injustice. 5,000 instructors are joined by sympathetic students and parents in a march thru the Loop in angry demonstration. Marchers with banners. Peaceful. Strikes spread across the nation. Jolting the economy. Violence and hardship abound. Presidential intervention brings about settlement of the auto industry strike. Crowds, men walking. F.D.R. (Franklin Delano Roosevelt) sails away on Vincent Astor's yacht for a brief fishing holiday. FDR shakes hands with a man. The President and other men on boat, FDR waves his hat. New cars rolled off the assembly lines...Shiny, 1934 models. Workers punching time cards (?). Men in factory, assembling automobiles, resting and eating. In France, tests of a newly devised non-skid tire tread are interrupted when another car, with old-fashioned tires, skid-prone, skids in the rain - killing a woman pedestrian in this camera close-up. One car successfully stops on apparently wet, slick road. Another car spins, slides, and crashes into a woman and a baby carriage. Looks partially staged because it looks like woman pushes the carriage into the path of the car... but then her fall looks real. Tragedy. Auto accident.
