News in Brief: Mamie At The White House. 'Mamie' Eisenhower, America's future First Lady, is given a pre-view of her new home by the outgoing occupant, Bess Truman. And the Washington Women's Press Corps gives Mamie an advance taste of what it's like to be Mrs. President. Mamie, wearing a long fur coat as well as pearl-looking earrings and necklace, arrives and poses for pictures before entering the White House (an African-American man in white tie tuxedo opens the door for her). Exterior White House. Bess and Mamie exit the White House and shake hands; a group of press photographers snap away.
