Sports: John Cobb Dies. Famed racer John Cobb dies in tragic attempt to beat world speed-boat mark (speed record attempt). His jet-propelled boat disintegrates before a horrified crowd. Cobb climbs into his boat; he's an older gentleman wearing a hat. Boat is pulled out onto Loch Ness. TLS boat speeding along the water, then it just disintegrates (tragedy, disaster). TLS of rescue boats reaching scene of his death. [Very strange choice of newsreel music - upbeat march usually played with football footage.]
