The Railroad Series combines still pictures and drawings with live action gathered from historic operating railroads throughout the U.S. and Canada. By the 1850s railroads were drastically changing the American way of life -- faster transportation...bigger loads...and year-round operation. Tracks ran east and west tying the big river systems together. Railroads decided the future of towns and cities, and during the Civil War gave the North, which had more tracks and trains, a distinct military advantage. Originally shot on film. Many excellent historical re-enactments (recreations, reenactment).
