Gov. Gilligan & UFO Sighting
(audio) CU of Gilligan as he describes his UFO encounter. As he begins to tell the story, he and the press laugh. This is how the governor describes his experience: "It was, so help me, it was a vertical beam of light, amber colored. We were driving south on 23 from Flint to Ann Arbor. And we watched it for about thirty-five minutes. Its relative position started out south or south-east, the moon was north-east. So, it couldn't have been a reflection. It was above a cloud cover and it seemed to be penetrating the cloud cover. It remained in that relative position, although we seemed to gain on it in the space of forty minutes. It would fade out and get brighter. I frankly don't know what it was. But we've gotta stop those moon shots, I'm tell'n ya." Laughter.
