ON PREVIEW CASSETTE 210906 J Good views of police officers providing civil services to the community. The segment begins with a shot of the Cleveland police emblem painted on the door of a police vehicle. The car door is open, camera pans up to reveal a man seated in the passenger side talking into police radio or CB. View of traffic driving down the street. CU of officer directing traffic. He is wearing a police cap, orange jacket and has a whistle in his mouth. He motions traffic to move. Rear view of older traffic cop standing in an intersection. He motions traffic with his arm. CU of officer directing a car. Shot of an officer dressed in an orange jacket riding toward the camera on a three-wheeled motorized vehicle. Brief shot of uniformed officers crossing the street. Interview with a Hispanic man who talks about short police officers. Apparently, there was a height restriction that has now been lifted. The reporter asks the man (from off screen) what other action he will be taking in order to improve the test for Spanish speaking recruits. The man states that he would like to see the test given in the Spanish dialect of the people, rather than the "king's Spanish of Spain". He would also like to do away with the polygraph requirement. He believes that it could be a major set back for those who come from the ghetto, coming in with a less than perfect background.
