Historic Inns - St. James Inn
.......... Tight LS of upstairs hallway of the St James. Long hallway with red wallpaper and even redder carpet. There are also some bookcases and dressers lining the way. Shot features a tilt down.
.......... Static MS, slightly high angle, of an old fashioned poker table in the gambling room of the St. James. Artful, contrast shot; one hot light beats down on a corner of the table while the near BG is black and the far BG is dark red. On the table are cards, chips and cash laid out in front of each empty chair. The chips of red, white and blue, green table fuzz. Someone tosses chips onto the table from off-screen, eventually stops. Rack focus on a pile of chips.
.......... Excellent CU's of the chips, the cards and the money (each player's pile). MS of animal head mounted on the wall.
.......... MS (very tight LS) of the Jesse James room in the St. James. The room features a bright red wall as well as the pillows on the bed. The bedposts are black and gold. Taken several times with pans from a lower angle (from the foot of the bed so the posts are in the immediate FG).
.......... static tight LS of the St. James parlor: very masculine room with its dark gray carpeting, the nice, cushy furniture, puke yellow wallpaper and animal trophy heads displayed on the walls. Very comfortable looking room.
.......... The gambling room in the St. James Inn. Tight LS or MS of an old fashioned roulette wheel spinning; taken from a slightly high angle and features some excellent contrast lighting (lots of great shadows).
.......... ECU of an old fashioned roulette wheel spinning. Taken several more times: static wheel, spinning wheel; zooming in, zooming out.
.......... ECU, slightly high angle, of poker chips and cash lying on the roulette table.
.......... Tight LS of a Henry Lambert's tombstone in a cemetery on a bright, sunny day. Appears to be late or mid-Autumn, judging by the barren trees and withered, yellow grass. The cemetery itself is very wide, the plots spaced out accordingly. There are snow-capped mountains in the distant BG.
.......... Tight LS of Mary Elizabeth Lambert's gravestone. This shot is similar to the last (his tombstone is on frame right but hers is the focus here). Static shot, then zoom outs and ins.
.......... excellent static wide shot of the mountains above Cimarron, followed by takes of the same only to zoom out to resume former shot from the cemetery. Taken several more times, later takes with pans right (the last being a huge 180 degree survey of the mountain range).
.......... Static tight LS of the Cimarron road marker. The marker, taken from a 3/4 angle, is in the near FG. This shot is taken several more times with zooms in and out and tilts down and up, the later takes shot at a full angle view of the Cimarron sign.
.......... Static CU of the Santa Fe Trail stone marker; taken from a 3/4 view perspective. Taken several more times with zoom outs and tilt ups, only to reveal a light pink building in the FG adjacent to the marker. The marker appears to be located in the center of the town, just off to the side of a main road. BREAK IN TBC
.......... Tight LS of the Immaculate Conception Church, c. 1865, in Cimarron, NM. Taken from a 3/4 view, the church is bathed in late afternoon sunlight to great effect, especially in contrast to the bright blue sky. The church is fairly traditional, with its steeple entrance and cross on top like a weather vane. Shot is taken several more times.
.......... excellent static tight LS of Cimarron Canyon and Palisades Sill. Taken during the late afternoon hours, the top ridge of the canyon is hammered by sunlight while the surrounding fir trees are in silhouette. Taken several more times, with pans left and right; tighter LS's towards end of series. Also captured are the Devil's Mailbox and some great extreme wide shots of the canyon.
.......... Excellent tight LS's of Cimarron landscapes: mountains, grassy hills (with dusting of snow), motionless clouds, etcetera. Some shots are static while others feature pans left and right; great survey material of untamed land.
.......... Wide LS of the remains of Moots Hotel, taken from a three quarter perspective. All that remains is a wall and the foundation of the two story inn where Chef Lambert used to work. It is situated on top of a slow, gentle hill. Late afternoon sunlight envelopes the remnants, the BG the bright blue sky. The brick remains and the patches of vegetation around it are yellow; deep yellow, almost golden. Taken several more times with pans right and left, as well as MS's of portions of the building.
.......... Wide and tight LS's of horses grazing in an open, lightly snow-dusted field. Seems to be at the base of a mountain. There are three horses in the field.
.......... static wide LS of the Angelfire sign, a ski resort in New Mexico. The sign is in the FG while a strip of stores, mountains and blue sky are in the BG. Taken several times, mostly with zooms in and out.
.......... Slightly low angle, face-on tight Ls of skiers going down a beginner or intermediate slope. Followed by tight LS's of ski lifts, then more of the same (skiers and such).
.......... Zoom out of tight LS of snow-capped mountains to tight LS of skiers milling about the bottom of a slope on a sunny day. Shot several more times, similar format.
.......... Landscape material. Plants, mountains, rack focusing, pans, trees, plains, etc. Good stuff.
.......... Enter the deer. A young doe, in MS, seems just as enamored with the cameraman as he is with the doe. Very shaky camera. The deer eventually runs away into the woods.
.......... tight LS of two horses walking and standing in an open field. One is chestnut while the other is white. Taken several times, with pans and zooms, even wide LS's.
.......... MS of a deer in a barbed wire cage.
.......... Tracking shot down a straight, paved road; barren trees closely line the road; mountains in the BG.
