MS attorney Bart Matthews lighting cigarette wondering why his client Nobby Bullaid hasn't shown for their meeting. GV ring as boxing match begins. MCU as Bart Matthews sits down next to police sergeant who is watching the fight ringside, Matthews asks the sergeant for help, pan to man & woman watching the fight. GV boxing match in progress, count to three on KO. MCU couple in the crowd, woman's fighter wins forcing her male companion to pay on his losing bet.

Night MS couple getting into car parked in stadium lot. MCU couple inside car, woman flirts a bit with her husband. TLS car driving toward camera w/ headlights on. MCU couple inside car as Nobby Bullaid pops his heads up from the back seat, pointing a gun at the man behind the wheel, Nobby demands $300, woman claims they don't have that kind of money on them.

Various exchanges inside car as Nobby Bullaid holds a gun to driver's head, demanding money, the woman seated in the passenger's seat discreetly removes her jewelry & tucks it away inside her dress as her husband keeps their captor talking.

Night MS car pulling up in front of liquor store. MCU inside car, Nobby Bullaid is seated in backseat holding a gun to the driver's head, Nobby gives the man instructions as to the terms, he is to get $300 within seven minutes. CU car clock. MCU inside car, Nobby pointing gun at driver, telling him to leave the keys. Exterior MS of car as man climbs out to retrieve the money, Nobby seen seated in backseat holding gun toward woman in passenger seat. MS inside liquor store as man enters, he is greeted by friendly male clerk behind the counter, man being robbed tells the clerk he's in trouble. CU car clock. MCU inside car with Nobby pointing gun at woman in passenger seat.

MS inside liquor store as frantic man tries to get the male clerk to cash a check to pay the man holding his wife hostage in the car parked outside, the clerk recognizes the man as a golfer as asks for some swing advise, clerk checks the register to see that there isn't enough cash for the robber's demand. MCU man using payphone, placing a call to the police. MS inside police HQ as Police Sergeant, Bart Matthews & Capt. Vaughan get the Intel on crooks involved in the Nobby Bullaid case. MCU sergeant receiving the call robbery / hostage call from the liquor store. MS law men on the move.

MCU inside parked car w/ Nobby Bullaid seated in back seat, holding gun pointed at woman seated in passenger seat, they wait for woman's husband to return with the $300 Nobby is demanding. MS second car pulling up to park in front of store, it s the cops. Various shots as husband returns to his car, he tells Nobby that the car behind them belongs to the store clerk, car is following behind so woman gets out to see if the bumper are locked, driver finds a moment to escape.

MS police climbing out of car w/ guns drawn "Come on out Nobby with your hands up, you're covered." MCU/MS Nobby running out of car. MS police officer using open car door to steady his arm as he fires his weapon . MCU as Nobby is hit & falls to the ground. Various shots as the law runs over to check on Nobby who is wounded but alive, Mathews asks him why he did it, Nobby thought he was being double-crossed and panicked.

MCU Bart Mathews seated at desk summing up the case for Nobby Bullaid, he was found guilty of assault & sentenced one year in the county jail. Pan to statue of Lady Justice as props are given to a real life Public Defendant "Milton M. Mentz-City of St. Louis Missouri."
