Dignitaries watching the parade include New York's Mayor Impellitteri, actress Helen Hayes, and Mrs. Anna Rosenberg, apparently assistant Secretary of Defense (sex roles, politics, government, working woman). More women are sworn in to the military; the new recruits are mainly young and a racial mix of African American and various Caucasians.

VS the ceremony with medals being pinned on, camera getting shots of the heroes posing, etc. Back in Korea, meanwhile, blood donations from civilians and military men, including crew of carrier 'Boxer,' go far to save lives of Yanks wounded in combat. Draw shots, four cushion nifties and long sizzlers that astound the spectators. VS men perform billiard tricks. It doesn't look like the object is to sink any of the balls into a pocket, however -- in fact, their tricks all involve two cue balls and one other ball. One slow motion shot shows a ball that changes direction a few times after only one hit.

Communist and United Nations delegates walk past guards, snow on ground, into tent for meeting. Men make markings on a large map while a few photographers press in for a shot. Exterior, paratroops gear up. Air to air shots planes flying over water and land. VS paratroopers pouring out of the airplanes. Troops land (look like fairly hard landings).

In the mountains, blizzards have halted trains and auto traffic, while in the lowlands, days of rain have washed out homes and buried autos under feet of mud. Flood waters (not very high) run past storefronts, parking meters. Man checks mailbox in front of home, flooding all around.
