"A Vietcong grenade brings death to one, injury to twenty-two South Vietnamese civilians, in a tiny village near a U.S. Marine Base. These daily raids go virtually unnoticed, U.S. officials said, while American bombing in the North makes headlines critical of U.S. policy. It is noted that one hand Grenade was responsible for all this damage. Panning MS U.S. - Marine running with wounded Vietnamese girl in his arms. MS - Marine walking along railroad tracks with wounded Vietnamese woman in his arms. TLS - Marines loading wounded Vietnamese people onto ambulance truck. MSs -Marine lifting bloody girl from ambulance, taking her to hospital.
"The best dirt-track motorbike racers assemble for the 1st European qualifying championship. It's a thousand meter distance and skill, speed, and danger are par for the course. Winner: Alfred Aberl of Germany. Speed: almost 70 mph. Panning LS - Start of motorbike race, competitors spraying dust. Dizzying panning TLS/LSs - Speedy race on enclosed dirt race track, including shot of winner crossing finish line, judge waving checkered flag. MS - Judge placing honorary wreath around winner ALFRED ABERL in winner's circle.
Belgian's National Day at Expo 67'. The Royal Highness Prince Albert and Princess Paola arrive at Belgian's Royal Pavilion. On the royal pavilion in raised gold lettering "BELGIE BELCIQUE". Belgian's Folk dancing troupe surrounded by visitors at Expo 67'. TLS - Uniformed Belgian sailors standing outside Belgian Pavilion at Expo 67 (Montreal World's Fair). Panning MS - Belgian royalty Prince of Liege Albert II and Princess of Liege Paola (Donna Paola Ruff did Calabria) exiting car, walking to Pavilion. MS - Prince Albert II viewing exhibition. Tilting MS - Cobalt display. MS - Princess Paola viewing display. Panning TLS - Crowd outside Pavilion, stop at dancers of the (?) de la Louviere. MSs - Belgian folk dance troupe performing. Three straight days of streets rioting in Hong Kong. Artificial flower workers sparked the riots almost 300 - youths are arrested. Police said that the rioting seem to be on any and all authority. Labor demands are being discussed. TLS/MSs - Hong Kong riot police -- wearing white helmets, khaki uniforms with short pants and armed with small shields, clubs and rifles-- alighting transport trucks on street, responding to call. Rear view TLS - Riot police running up flight of stairs outside bldg. LS - Large crowd gathered on four balconies of shifty-looking multi-storey factory building (could pass for an overcrowded tenement). MS - Police officer dragging young man through courtyard with one arm, eventually putting the slippery fellow in a headlock as he is dragged toward cam. MS - Three police officers leading young man through street; another officer sprint down street to catch up & when he does he kicks the suspect in the rear end. Rear view tracking shot - Riot squad patrolling street. Tracking MS - Riot cop walking with tear gas gun. MS - Burned-out wreckage of car on street. The riots apparently stemmed from a labor dispute between striking workers and management of an artificial flower company.
"NATO military pilots go through a rugged winter survival course in snow-covered mountains of Norway. Their only equipment: snow shoes, knife, parachute, and rubber dinghy. They practice for the time they may crash-land in remote areas. Some meals: entirely snow. TLS/MSs - NATO military pilots walking in single file line through snow with skis on feet, walking toward cam. MS - Airmen wearing snowshoes, pulling inflated rubber rafts behind them. MS- Airman hand-digging hole in deep snow (building shelter); MS - Airman placing inflated raft in ground shelter by tree, then climbing into hole himself. MS - Three airmen crawling into shelter built into side of snow mound; MS - Two airmen lying in snow shelter, one man using parachute for pillow while other man nibbles on snow; CU- Airman eating snow.
"New Zealander Denis Hulme wins the Monaco Grand Prix with British driver Graham Hill, second; Chris Amon, New Zealand, third. But Lorenzo Bandini, leading Italian driver, is critically injured in a fiery crash near the end of the race. He dies in the hospital a few days later. (Very disturbing footage - you see his burned face and the burned and smashed up Ferrari)
